Gobble, gobble...

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I hope it was bountiful.

Our was great. This is the first year I did not have dinner at my house. I cooked some dishes, but it was a great stress reliever to not actually cook at home. Part of it was selfish. See I don't have a real craft room, so all my "stuff" is on half my dining room table and half my dining room. See I didn't really want to clean it up, to only have to drag it all up to work on Christmas gifts this weekend. That's alot of stuff. PLUS, I have no where to stuff it. So I said, no dinner at my house.

I did cook Praline Sweet Potatoes (or "yams", because apparently, I've been using yam's instead of sweet potatoes, but in my defense, the grocer pointed me to the "sweet potatoes" so I thought they were one in the same. And apparently the stores by me don't carry "real" sweet potatoes, even though they have a sign that says sweet potatoes/yams, yeah.) and a Pumpkin gooey butter cake. Yum...

I have to admit, I did not use 1 lb. of powdered in my gooey butter cake. I have before and it's REALLY sweet. So my family asked that I not use so much so I only 3/4 of a lb. :D It was really delish!

A new tradition we started was deep frying our turkey. We did it last year and it was so good. We did it again this year, and it's probably one of the best turkeys we've had. We injected it the night before with cajun seasonings. Then before inserting in deep fryer, we put a cajun rub. All I can say is WOW. We'll never have plain dried out oven turkey again!

And to put a truly unique un-traditional spin on all of it. We made stuffing with chorizo (mexican beef sausage-a little spicy), which turned out better than I thought.

I also made a spiral ham, but I cooked it at my sister in laws. It was full of brown sugar goodness. All in all it was a success.
